Breaking barriers

When thinking about the word "barrier", you can come up with many different ideas, definitions and synonyms, for instance, I like: limitations, boundaries, and from dictionary.com we get "Boundary, border, frontier share the sense of that which divides one entity or political unit from another." dividing entities. Today, I know of two boundaries that broke. First, my Babushka's son-in-law was here for quite some time today, just trying to get the internet here working, solely so I could use the internet here. It was a long and boring process (waiting for the tech people for about an hour, but at least I got to practice some Russian in the meantime with him), but finally we broke through, and got it all set up. My Babushka LOVES her son-in-law. She doesn't speak a LOT of English, but she speaks some. So, the internet was the first boundary broken. The second was a repercussion of the first. After she saw him out the door and to the elevator, she came in and said in broken english,
Galina: "Josef, my-my (I broke in with "son-in-law"), yes, he is the best!"
Josef: I agree!
20 seconds go by as she is in the bathroom washing her face and such
Galina: Josef, my daughter is best too!
Josef: I agree!
Another 10 seconds go by, and I have just sat back down after standing up and going to the door to show interest in what she is saying, so I do it again
Galina: Josef, I am the best too!
Josef: haha, yes of course!
only 5 seconds go by, so I haven't made it ALL the way back to my desk
Galina: Josef, you are the best too!
Josef: haha, Thank you!
And, get ready for it....SHE HUGGED ME! Oh it felt so great, and she had THE biggest smile I've seen on a Russian while here in Russia. It was fantastic, and now the barrier has been broken.

Josef, I want to meet this wonderful woman who is so good to you!! I will try to break the next barrier: get my own sign-in, so people don't think I'm dad every time I write...

Is she LDS? The only Russians I met that smiled were. :) (Ben doesn't agree, but that's just what I saw.)

I'm so glad you have a "Russian" mom to look after you. Tell her your Granny Janny loves her for loving you.

This is a test to see if I truly have broken through the barrier of this blog with my own sign-in...
