Leaving Finland was a little bit sad, but I was excited to get to Russia for my study abroad as well. The night before I left Finland, I needed to buy my train ticket, and I got there 5 minutes before it closed. I went to buy it and she asked for my passport...didn't have it. But luckily, Mervi talked her into letting me still get the ticket. So nice of the lady.
Early the next morning, Mervi took me to the train station and I got on and left with no problem. I read a lot and slept some as well. When I got to St. Petersburg, I took my time, just taking in sights and smells and other things. Finally I decided to set out to find out where I had to go to get to the next train...this took probably an hour or so longer than it should...probably took an hour and 15 minutes instead of just 15 minutes. I was helped by a couple really nice people...unfortunately, not all of them ACTUALLY knew, so I got lost a few times. I took all 5 different tracks of the metro at least once each, several more than once. But finally, I got there and waited for another 5 or 6 hours, reading and falling asleep, not wanting to take money out to buy food, so I didn't until the end, I bought some juice. Then the rest of the trip went smoothly and in Moscow I found the guy holding a sign that said:
Josef Kujanpaa
and I knew I had made it to the right place.

Josef, so glad to hear how the rest of the trip went....memories, right? I'm anxious, when you have time, to hear about the zhenshcheena:)(woman) you are staying with...do tell! And what in the world are you doing for studies, etc.? You are writing a new chapter in your life, I can't wait to read it!
Love you!
Mom
Hi Josef,
It's about 400 miles from St. Petersburg to Moscow - how long was the train ride? Did you get a sleeper car?
Don't forget to look for the lady who rolls the TP by hand. Remember, she was at the hotel Moscow. Also, at the post office they were still applying glue with a brush to the stamp. Let me know if they are more modernized now. How was customs? Did they look at you more than 3 times as they studied your passport photo? They were very thorough when I was there. Did you notice how many smoke? I think Ben said it was a very high percentage.
We look forward to hearing all about your adventures.
I love you.

Call it ESP (back to AP Psych), but I pictured you in my head riding the same metro tracks repeatedly...it took Ben and I a while to figure it out too! :)
Okay, so how is it, according to your profile, that you ended up 51% finnish? Did I not bring you into this world?? I've done the math, and I'm pretty sure I had a lot more than 49% invested into the project....just wondering,
with love,
Your Mother (and don't you forget it!) :)
