Galina, my Russian Babushka

Galina is my Russian Babushka, which is Russian for Grandma. She takes great care of me. Yesterday we had chicken noodle soup. I got home before her, and she had already made it and stuck it in the fridge. I got it out to heat it up, looked at it, and then put it back. The chicken was all still connected to the bones, and the "soup" I thought looked WAY too thick to be chicken noodle soup. She got home about 10 min later and asked why I hadn't eaten it. I told her I didn't know what I was supposed to do...she laughed and asked "how could you not know?" (in Russian of course). So, she made it (and of course, it's OBVIOUS and EASY...it just looked all weird and such). Then she pulls the chicken out and puts it on a plate and I just eat it off the bone and I eat the noodle soup on its own. Then, I finish the piece of chicken and she looks at me and asks if I'm going to eat "that". Haha, I asked her, "this"?...."THIS?"...she answered in the affirmative both times. I was pretty sure that it was cartilage, 'cause we just learned that in our class and that's what I thought she said, plus it looked like cartilage. She said to try it. I knew what it was like, but what the heck right? So I ate a TINY piece, told her I didn't like it, and she gobbled it up. She reminds me of "What about Bob?" movie, when Bob is making all the noise at the table because all the food is SOOO GOOOD. She makes those noises sometimes-as she did when she was eating the cartilage. She reminded me of Papa right then, eating every last bit of anything.

Hi Josef,
I remember how Pappa used to eat most of the chicken bones at Super City Take Out. The chicken was like Kentucky fried. Anyways, I have tried eating the bones a few times over the years just for fun -- it's not too bad. Pappa learned it from 2 african quys who ate all the bones and he asked why -- they smiled and said it was healthy and gave them strong teeth.

Love
Dad

Of course I wore my Markleeville hat :) Also, it's all smokey now, so I'm trying to have it air dry, but I think I'll just throw it in the shower with me tomorrow.

Haha, I can just hear Pappa chewing right now. I love Galina. And I don't even know her.
